Stove Repair

Stove Repair in Valdosta, GA

Stove repair restores the cooktop by replacing the failed burner, surface element, igniter, switch, valve or control board. A single burner that will not light points to that burner's igniter or element; a whole cooktop that is dead points to the supply or the control. Gas, electric and induction, 24 hours a day.

What does stove repair include?

Stove repair is the diagnosis and replacement of the component that has stopped a cooktop burner from lighting, heating or holding its setting. It covers four systems: ignition (spark module, igniter electrodes, surface element), gas delivery (burner valves, orifices, burner caps and heads), electrical (infinite switches, element receptacles, wiring) and control (touch panel, control board, relays).

Stove and oven are separate appliances even when they share a cabinet. A range has both, and each has its own heating circuit, controls and failure modes. A dead cooktop does not mean the oven is faulty, and a dead oven does not mean the cooktop is.

Gas burner will not light

One burner clicks without catching, or does not click at all. A clogged burner port, a wet or cracked igniter electrode, or a failed spark module is behind almost all of these.

  • Clicks but will not light
  • Clogged burner ports
  • Cracked igniter electrode
  • Failed spark module

Burner clicking constantly

The igniter keeps sparking after the burner lights, or sparks with every knob off. Moisture under the burner cap or a shorted switch keeps the spark circuit energised.

  • Continuous clicking
  • Moisture under burner cap
  • Misaligned burner head
  • Shorted switch

Electric element not heating

One coil or radiant zone stays cold. The element itself, the receptacle it plugs into, or the infinite switch controlling it has failed, and each is tested in that order.

  • One zone stays cold
  • Burned element receptacle
  • Failed surface element
  • Faulty infinite switch

Burner stuck on high

The element ignores the knob and runs at full power. The infinite switch has welded closed internally, which is a safety fault and should be repaired before the stove is used again.

  • No control over heat level
  • Welded infinite switch
  • Relay stuck closed
  • Control board fault

Uneven or weak flame

The flame is yellow, low or lifting off the burner. Blocked orifices, a burner cap seated wrong, or a gas pressure problem at the regulator changes the flame shape and colour.

  • Yellow or lifting flame
  • Blocked burner orifice
  • Misseated burner cap
  • Regulator fault

Cooktop controls not responding

A glass or induction cooktop shows a lock symbol, an error code or a dead panel. Failed touch controls, a control board fault or a triggered safety lock-out are the usual causes.

  • Unresponsive touch panel
  • Error code displayed
  • Control lock engaged
  • Control board fault

Why is my stove burner not working?

Start by counting the burners. One dead burner is a component fault on that burner. Every burner dead is a supply or control fault affecting the whole cooktop.

Symptom Most likely cause Repair
One gas burner will not light Clogged ports or failed igniter electrode Clean or replace igniter
No burner clicks at all Spark module or power supply Module replacement
One electric element stays cold Element, receptacle or infinite switch Element circuit
Burner runs at full power only Welded infinite switch or stuck relay Switch replacement
Yellow, lifting or uneven flame Blocked orifice or misseated burner cap Burner service
Whole cooktop dead Breaker, wiring or main control board Electrical diagnosis
Induction zone drops out under a pan Unsuitable cookware or coil fault Coil diagnosis

If you smell gas, do not operate any switch. Shut off the supply, ventilate the room and call from outside.

How does a stove repair visit work?

Four stages, with every burner tested at the end rather than only the one that failed.

1

Book the call

Tell us the brand, whether the cooktop is gas, electric or induction, and how many burners are affected. That distinction sets the whole diagnosis.

2

Diagnose the fault

The technician tests ignition, the switches, the elements or valves and the control board, and checks flame quality on every gas burner.

3

Approve the price

You get the cause, the part and one total figure. Work begins only after you agree to it.

4

Repair and test

The part is fitted and every burner is run through its full range, with gas connections leak-checked before we leave.

Is it worth repairing a stove?

Repairing a stove is worth it in most cases. Cooktops last 13 to 15 years, and the parts that fail — igniters, elements, switches, spark modules and burner assemblies — are inexpensive and individually replaceable without touching the rest of the appliance.

Repair is the better choice

One or two burners have failed on a stove under twelve years old. Because each burner is its own circuit, these repairs are contained and rarely involve the rest of the cooktop.

Replacement is the better choice

The glass cooktop surface has cracked, gas valves are leaking across several burners, or the control board has failed on an appliance past fifteen years.

What we tell you

You get the repair cost, the outlook for the appliance at its current age, and a direct recommendation. Safety faults are always flagged, whichever way the decision goes.

Stove repair questions

Direct answers to what Valdosta homeowners ask before booking a stove repair.

Why does my gas burner click but not light?

The spark is being made but the gas is not reaching it.

Blocked burner ports and a burner cap seated slightly out of position are the two most common causes, and both follow a boil-over. If the ports are clear and the cap is square, the igniter electrode or spark module is next.

Why does my stove keep clicking when no burner is on?

Moisture or debris is completing the spark circuit.

Dry the burner caps, heads and the recess beneath them thoroughly and leave them to air. Clicking that continues once everything is dry means a shorted switch or spark module, which needs replacing.

Is a yellow flame on a gas stove dangerous?

A yellow flame means incomplete combustion and should be corrected.

A healthy burner flame is blue. Yellow indicates the air-to-gas mixture is wrong, usually from a blocked orifice or a misseated burner, and incomplete combustion produces carbon monoxide.

Why is one electric burner not heating?

The element, its receptacle or its switch has failed.

On coil cooktops the receptacle is a frequent failure point, because arcing burns the contacts. Replacing only the element on a burned receptacle causes the same fault to return.

Can a cracked glass cooktop be repaired?

No. A cracked glass surface has to be replaced, not repaired.

Stop using it. Cracks let spills reach the wiring beneath and spread under heat. On older appliances the glass panel can cost enough that replacing the unit is the better decision.

Do you repair the oven on a range as well as the cooktop?

Yes, we repair both halves of a range.

They are separate systems in one cabinet. If the oven is the part that is failing, see oven repair, or tell us both symptoms when you call and we will handle them in one visit.

Burner not lighting, clicking non-stop or stuck on high? Call and we will book the earliest window.
