LG Appliance Repair in Valdosta, GA

LG appliance repair is the diagnosis and component replacement of refrigerators, washers, dryers and dishwashers built by LG Electronics. LG uses two components no other manufacturer builds the same way: the Linear Compressor in refrigerators and the Direct Drive motor in washers. Both carry ten-year parts warranties, both change how the appliance fails, and both decide whether a repair is worth doing.

Why does an LG refrigerator stop cooling?

An LG refrigerator whose lights still work and whose fans still run, but which holds no cold anywhere, has almost always lost the Linear Compressor. The compressor draws power and may still sound like it is running, but it no longer moves refrigerant, so both compartments reach room temperature within 12 to 24 hours.

How to recognise it

The display responds and the interior light works. The freezer floor is wet from melted ice. Nothing is cold in either compartment. The condenser coils at the back stay at room temperature instead of warming, because no heat is being rejected from the system.

Which models are affected

Linear Compressor refrigerators, largely French-door LFXS, LMXS and LRFDS models. LG refrigerators built between 2014 and 2017 with this compressor were covered by a United States class-action settlement concerning premature compressor failure.

What the warranty covers

LG typically warrants the Linear Compressor for ten years on the part alone. After the first year, labour and refrigerant are not covered. If your refrigerator is inside ten years, claim the part from LG before booking anything, because it changes the cost of the job entirely.

Compressor replacement is sealed-system work. It is worth doing on a refrigerator under seven years old and rarely worth doing past ten.

What are the most common LG appliance faults?

LG faults divide cleanly: sealed-system failures on refrigerators, drive and drain failures on laundry appliances.

LG refrigerator repair

Beyond the compressor, LG refrigerators fail at the evaporator fan, the defrost sensor and the door-mounted slim ice maker. A refrigerator that still cools but frosts heavily on the rear freezer wall has a defrost fault. A refrigerator that cools nowhere has a sealed-system fault. Those two are separated before any part is ordered, because the price difference between them is large.

  • Not cooling at all
  • Frost on the rear wall
  • Ice maker empty
  • Water dispenser dead
  • Clicking every few minutes

LG washer repair

LG front-load washers bolt a Direct Drive motor straight to the drum, with no belt and no transmission. When the control cannot detect rotation it reports LE. With the power off, turn the drum by hand: a drum that spins freely points to the Hall sensor, an inexpensive part. A drum that grinds or will not move points to the bearing, which is a much larger job.

  • LE motor error
  • OE will not drain
  • IE will not fill
  • UE unbalanced
  • Grinding on spin

LG dryer repair

An LG dryer showing D80, D90 or D95 is not reporting a fault. Those are flow readings telling you the vent line is 80, 90 or 95 percent restricted. Clearing the duct clears the message. A genuine LG dryer fault appears as no heat at all, which points to the heating element, the thermal fuse or the thermistor.

  • D80 or D90 shown
  • No heat
  • Long drying times
  • Rumbling drum
  • Will not start

LG dishwasher repair

LG dishwashers stop with OE when water remains in the sump at the end of the drain. The cause is the drain pump, the filter, or a drain hose installed without a high loop at the sink. LG also uses LE on dishwashers, where it refers to the wash motor rather than a washer drive motor, so the appliance type must be stated with the code.

  • OE drain error
  • LE motor error
  • Will not fill
  • Dishes not drying
  • Leaking at the door

LG top-load washer repair

LG WT-series top-load washers fail at the rotor position sensor, the drain pump and the lid lock. A machine that fills, agitates and then stops before spin with UE on every single load has a suspension fault, not a loading habit, because a genuine balance problem comes and goes with the load.

  • UE on every cycle
  • Will not spin
  • Lid lock fault
  • Slow to fill
  • Water left in drum

LG Smart Diagnosis

Most LG appliances built after 2011 can transmit their stored fault history as an audio tone through your phone. If you have run Smart Diagnosis, tell us what it reported, because it shortens the visit. It does not replace diagnosis: the tone reports what the control recorded, not which component failed.

  • Stored fault history
  • Cycle counts
  • Motor readings
  • Sensor status

What do LG error codes mean?

LG names the failed circuit with a letter followed by E. The same code can mean different things on different appliance types, so the appliance must be identified alongside the code.

Code Appliance Meaning Usual cause
LEWasherMotor lockedHall sensor or bearing
OEWasherWater not drainingDrain pump or filter

Call 229-363-0182 with the code, the appliance type and the model number from the door frame.

How do you read an LG model number?

The opening letter group names the appliance type, and it also tells us whether a Linear Compressor or a Direct Drive motor is fitted.

LFXS, LMXS, LRFDS

French-door refrigerators. These carry the Linear Compressor, and these are the models where total cooling loss points at the sealed system.

WM, WT

Washers. WM is front loading with Direct Drive, WT is top loading. An LE code on a WM model concerns the drive motor directly.

DLEX, DLGX

Dryers. DLEX is electric, DLGX is gas. D-series flow readings appear on both and describe the vent line rather than the machine.

LDF, LDT, LDP

Dishwashers. LDT models carry the taller tub and third rack. Drain faults on all three start at the sump filter.

The LG rating plate sits inside the refrigerator on the left wall, inside the washer door opening, and on the dishwasher door edge.

LG repair questions

Answers to what customers ask before booking an LG repair.

Is an LG linear compressor worth replacing?

It is worth replacing under seven years, and rarely worth it past ten.

Compressor replacement is sealed-system work: the system is recovered, the compressor and drier are changed, then the system is evacuated and recharged. On a newer refrigerator with the part still inside LG's ten-year parts warranty you pay labour only, which sits well below replacement cost. On an older cabinet the economics reverse.

What does LE mean on an LG washer?

LE means the control commanded the motor to turn and detected no rotation.

With the power off, try turning the drum by hand. A drum that spins freely points to the Hall sensor on the rear of the motor, which is inexpensive. A drum that grinds or will not turn points to the bearing, which is a much larger repair and changes whether the machine is worth keeping.

Does the Direct Drive warranty cover a motor failure?

The Direct Drive motor typically carries a ten-year limited parts warranty.

As with the compressor, it covers the part and not the labour after the first year. The Hall sensor, which causes most LE codes, is a separate component from the motor and is usually outside that warranty.

Why does my LG dryer show D80?

D80 reports that the vent line is roughly 80 percent restricted.

It is a flow reading, not a machine fault. Disconnect the vent at the back, clear the duct and the hood flap outside, and check the flexible section is not crushed behind the dryer. Restricted venting is also a leading cause of dryer fires, so the message is worth acting on.

Can you run LG Smart Diagnosis for me?

You can run it yourself before we arrive, and it helps.

Smart Diagnosis transmits the appliance's stored fault history as an audio tone through your phone. Telling us what it reported means we know which parts to bring. It is not a substitute for diagnosis, because the tone reports what the control recorded rather than which component failed.

Are LG parts available locally?

Common LG wear parts are stocked. Model-specific boards are ordered.

Drain pumps, door locks, Hall sensors, heating elements and thermistors are carried on the van. Main control boards, inverter boards and sealed-system parts are matched against your exact model number and ordered, which adds a short wait before the second visit.
